The Accountant I will serve as a key contributor to Lifespark’s Accounting Department, supporting essential accounting cycles such as accounts payable, expense management, cash application, and month-end close. The role includes full-cycle accounts payable processing, monthly transaction imports, and assigned close activities. The position also provides broader transactional and administrative support to the department, with opportunities for professional development and growth into expanded responsibilities.
Accountant I wage range: $55,000 - 65,000 (based upon education and experience)
This is a hybrid role where you'll be on-site at our headquarters in St. Louis Park, MN on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and work remotely on Tuesday and Thursday's. Typically work schedule is 8:00 a - 4:30 p.
Position Functions and Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Expense Reimbursement
- Take full ownership of the accounts payable process for assigned Lifespark business units, including:
- Vendor onboarding and maintenance
- Invoice/claims entry and processing
- Upfront expense coding and allocation
- Approval workflow management
- W-9 collection
- Timely and professional response to vendor inquiries
- Record and import transactions related to expense reimbursements and corporate credit cards.
- Provide support to employees on Lifespark’s expense reimbursement platform, including user assistance and question resolution.
- Prepare and file quarterly sales and use tax returns for Lifespark Holdings.
General Accounting & Treasury Support
- Prepare and post journal entries to ensure accurate revenue and expense recognition.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts.
- Maintain a daily deposit tracking file and coordinate weekly bank deposits.
- Ownership of annual 1099 processing and reporting.
Other Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the Accounting Department by responding to phone and email inquiries.
- Communicate accounting policies, procedures, errors, and concerns to appropriate stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.
- Collaborate with coworkers and provide assistance when workload permits.
- Complete ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
Experience & Education
- Minimum of 2 years in accounting or related field
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Understanding of proper period recognition including accrual management and amortization of prepaid expenses
- Experience with journal entry preparation and posting
- Previous ERP systems experience a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in software tools including financial systems and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to collaborate effectively
