Adaptive Snow Sports Instructor
Location: Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Dates: 11/29/25 – 4/10/26
Position Status: Winter Seasonal – Full time and Part time available
Compensation: $18.50 - $30 per hour DOQ

Position Summary
As a STARS Snow Sports Instructor, you will be instructing adaptive snow sports to individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities in a 1 on 1 setting. By creating a safe, fun, and effective learning environment you will have the opportunity to make a true difference in the world.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create a physically, emotionally, and culturally safe environment for people
experiencing a disability
- Effectively connect with participants, their families, and caregivers
- Instruct individual snow sports lessons using appropriate teaching progressions
and exercises
- Attend STARS training sessions
- Assist with the set-up and tear-down of daily programs
- Set goals and lesson plans according to STARS and PSIA (Professional Ski Instructor Association) standards and policies
- Document student progress and maintain accurate records
- Mentor volunteers on STARS’ values, customer service and best practices
- Complete administrative workflows necessary to the success of the program

- Ability to work outside during the winter in variable conditions for 5+ hours a day
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure and timelines
- Ability to be flexible, creative and adaptable to a variety of people and situations
- Excellent customer service skills
- Mature and professional demeanor when communicating with instructors, staff,
and participants
- Preserve client confidentiality with dignity and respect
- Commitment to a positive, fun and team-oriented working environment
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to ski/snowboard intermediate blue runs confidently
- Must be physically able to assist guests, students, or participants with ski or adaptive equipment
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 150 lbs. with assistance
- Clear criminal background check; safe driving record
- Basic computer knowledge and ability including Word and Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with people experiencing a disability
- Previous experience teaching skiing/snowboarding
- Previous experience teaching adaptive snow sports activities
- Current PSIA/AASI alpine, nordic or snowboard certifications
- Current PSIA/AASI adaptive certifications
