The Opportunity

The Associate Underwriter performs renewal underwriting, provides superior administrative, electronic submission activity, and customer service support to the Wholesale Insurance operations, Dealers, Agents, and Ally Representatives. The Associate Underwriter is primarily responsible for accurate and timely processing of new and renewal insurance submission information into the business system, along with documenting and resolving customer inquiries. Location: hybrid role in Cranberry Township, PA. 

The Work Itself

• Participates in renewal underwriting process.
• Process dealer application requests timely and accurately into the business system.
• Provides responsive service to customers regarding status of quotes and policy issuances.
• Provides information regarding products and services, such as components of Insurance coverages that are in existing policies (i.e. False Pretense, Comprehensive, Collision, etc.).
• Responsible for all communications with agents and dealers regarding policy and program provisions Assist Underwriting Teams (i.e. endorsement processing, policy issuance, entering loss history, and generating flood map information).
• Direct incoming calls, as necessary, to appropriate personnel.
• Submit policy documentation to our Surplus Lines filing company on a timely and accurate basis.
• Provide and coordinate on the job training and support for all employees on the Underwriting Assistant team.
• Pulls and reviews reports and ensure team meets critical metric targets.
• Act as subject matter expert, representing Underwriting Assistant role in projects to improve processes or technology.
• Provides solutions to complex situations that arise within team.
• Act as lead Underwriting Assistant on key large group accounts.
• Responsible for delegating Underwriting Assistant work & participation in projects.

The Skills You Bring

• 1 year in Underwriting Assistant role or previous Property & Casualty Underwriting experience preferred.
• 3+ years of financial services, and/or function specific experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Customer service experience.
• Insurance experience is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Strong phone communication skills.
• Customer focus oriented with professional, courteous, respectful demeanor.
• Demonstrates effective follow up skills.
• Commitment to the overall success of the team through excellent attendance, contribution and attitude.
• Strong PC and data entry skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) required.
• Strong Excel skills preferred. 
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
