Position Description
Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of adjunct instructors for K-12 Education. Currently our combined Teacher Preparation and Educator Preparation Programs have over 500.
Openings for these positions may or may not be available at this time; however, after a review of qualifications, applicants may be contacted in the future. Adjunct faculty positions provide quality, effective instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis at various locations
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)
- Assures course fidelity based on criteria established within the Cultivating Carolina Classrooms document.
- Provides consistent coaching support for students enrolled in the program
- Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
- Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
- Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
- Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
- Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
- Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course
Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction
Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
Maintains communication with instructors from other EPP to keep courses up-to date and appropriate
Remains up to date on technology and methods of teaching with technology
Attends professional development opportunities when possible
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Able to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning
Innovative, creative, motivated and works well with others
Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationship with students, peers, supervisors and staff.
Able to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistently
Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems.
Able to perform normal duties with minimum supervision
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential
Trained in the formal evaluation process for NC Teachers and using the Rubric for Evaluating North Carolina Teachers and the NC Professional Teaching Standards
Trained in Science of Reading such as Elementary LETRS
Requirements:
Master of Education in Teaching, STEM, Instructional Technology, or Curriculum and Instruction Science of Reading Trained Elementary LETRS

Valid NC teaching license or be qualified to renew their NC teaching license
Five years of practical experience in the field of teacher education (K-12) as teacher or Administrator
Preferences:
Doctorate Degree
One year of teaching experience at a Community College or in a post-secondary setting
Experience in online instruction
