The Health and Human Services Agency is seeking qualified candidates for the position of:
ADMISSIONS CLERK
PER COUNTY RULES: THIS POSITION IS ELIGIBLE FOR APPOINTMENT AT STEP 1, $40, 435.20 ANNUALLY.
County employees are subject to the County Promotion Rule for Step Placement in Accordance with Compensation Ordinance 1.3.5.
For Inpatient Health Services and Public Health Services departments:
As an Admissions Clerk, you will perform intake and administrative functions for persons receiving services. This position will interact with a variety of individuals representing diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Admissions Clerk positions are found at various locations including the San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital (SDCPH), Public Health Services Tuberculosis (TB) Control and Refugee Health Branch, and the Edgemoor Distinct Part Skilled Nursing Facility.
Qualifying Experience:
One (1) year of experience performing admissions or related clerical duties in a hospital, clinic, institution, or closely related work environment.

Interviews and Hiring Process:
The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below. Please note that dates are approximate and are dependent upon the successful completion of each step of the process.
- Job Offer and Background Process begins: Week of July 7, 2025.
- Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
- Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of background or other mutually agreed upon date.

Condition of Employment:
As part of the County of San Diego’s pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficient use of computer systems and have prior experience in a health care setting. Excellent customer service skills, including face-to-face interactions, and ability to navigate difficult situations involving customers of diverse socio-cultural backgrounds is highly desirable.
Evaluation:
Qualified applicants will be placed on a six (6) month eligible list based on scores received during the evaluation of information provided on the employment application and supplemental questionnaire. Please ensure all information is complete and accurate as the responses you provide on the supplemental application form will be reviewed using an automated evaluation system. If you are successful in the initial screening process your application will be reviewed individually to confirm that the information you provided is accurate and qualifying.
