The advanced mechanical engineer position will be responsible for providing technical direction for all evaluations performed on mechanical components, including gears and bearings for a team of Component Design and Analysis (CDA) Engineers supporting Production, Supplier Transition and Value Engineering initiatives, including Quality (FAIR, RMRAs, QNs), Drawing Interpretation, Supplier substantiation (ESA, STICS, STR, FTR, SCS), and Design Change (ECN, TECO, Deviation Waiver) Processes.
The Mechanical components team leader must be adept at performing a functional evaluation (Identification of Loads, Environment, Requirements) across multiple engine models and part families. The team lead will be responsible for overseeing strength, vibration, fatigue, heat transfer, deflection and life evaluations. In addition, the team leader will be responsible for tracking team assignments and reporting results and status. The advanced mechanical engineer must have sufficient Engines and APU design and manufacturing experience to provide the necessary problem-solving guidance to the team.
The applicant must be an effective leader, able to thrive in an Agile environment and successfully coordinate the work of local and global analysis teams, create statements of work, review analysis output, and communicate effectively with manufacturing personnel, suppliers, customers, and Chief engineers.
Driving process transformation to reduce design and manufacturing cost and cycle time is an important aspect of the position.
