RISU is looking for an instructor/tutor for STEM programs
RISU looks for an individual who likes kids, loves STEM subjects, and enjoys leading the Hands-on Science, Math class and Scratch Game Coding program for the whole school year at an afterschool in Palo Alto. Having a fun and exciting time with the students and seeing their growth is a rewarding experience. Please join us. RISU has well-developed programs and provides all materials.
What will you do? You will lead Hands-on Science classes on Tuesday from 5 - 6 pm, and lead the Scratch Coding program on Wednesday from 5 pm -6 pm at an afterschool in Palo Alto.
1) Monday 5 pm - 6 pm Critical Thinking and Math
You will run a self-directed Critical Thinking and Math program. The program is a web-based program, and students will learn by themselves. You will manage the class and assist the students in solving the questions if they have difficulty. The students are in grades K-2.
2) Tuesday 5 pm - 6 pm Hands-on Science
You will lead fun and experimental science projects every week with students in grades K-G2. RISU provides all materials and worksheets and has run the same programs for several years.
3) Wednesday 5 pm - 6 pm Scratch for Beginners
You will lead a Scratch programming class for the beginners in Grades K-2. RISU has more than 10 projects and games to enjoy developing and learning Scratch.
What is RISU? RISU is a growing start-up in the education-technology industry and has several private schools, public schools and after schools as the customer in the Bay area. RISU provides 1) Critical Thinking, 2) Math, 3) Hands-on science and 4) Programming enrichment programs, 5) 3D modeling and animation program to the schools.
What do we need from our applicants? A passion for assisting students, and:
- Proficiency in elementary and middle school math and science.
- Strong communication skills with children.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Scratch programming skill (Scratch is a programming environment for elementary school level kids)
- Self-motivated professional mind
- Ability to come to the class location by yourself and carry laptops and charge them at home.
It would also be great if you have:
- Good understanding of math and science
- Working experience in kindergarten, elementary or middle schools, after schools and tutoring
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field or taking the degree now
- Knowledge of standardized assessments, performance-based measurements, and other qualitative and quantitative assessment tools
- Knowledge of learning theory and practice

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
