Illinois Valley Economic Development Corporation (IVEDC) is in need of an intern for their Weatherization Team. This will be a 12-week summertime position sponsored through Ameren, with the possibility of becoming a full-time permanent position. IVEDC provides a variety of weatherization services to disadvantaged individuals within our four county service area.

Responsibilities:
- Repair and/or install windows, doors, insulation, attic vents, and/or other items needed to improve energy efficiency in accordance with work orders.
- Apply caulking and/or weather-stripping to doors and/or windows whenever needed to lessen energy loss in accordance with work orders.
- Perform minor roof, foundation, or other repairs in accordance with work orders.
- Complete required paperwork in an accurate, legible, and timely manner.
- Communicate with supervisor on status of assigned homes, concerns, etc.
- Interact with clients in a positive and professional manner.
- Monitor worksite safety at all times and promptly report any potential safety concerns to supervisor.
- Assure proper maintenance of vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Will attend all trainings required of the position, including those for certifications. (20% of work time will be used for career preparation and education via weekly webinars hosted by the Ameren Illinois Energy Efficiency Program.)
- Will volunteer for at least one event during the internship.
- Will complete an in-person training upon completion of the internship.
- Will pick up and deliver material to work site as needed.
- May be assigned to complete work on agency facilities.
- Maintain confidentiality of all agency/client information and records.
- Will travel to locations throughout the agency’s service area.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must possess a high school diploma/GED.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and current auto insurance.
- Must successfully pass background and reference checks.
- Experience in home repair/construction preferred.
- Willing to train the right individual.
Will be working up to 37.5 hours per week.
