Job Summary
Cotton Law is seeking a skilled and committed Of Counsel litigator licensed in Washington State to support its growing docket of foreclosure defense, civil rights, and consumer protection matters. This is a flexible, remote-first position that may involve occasional in-person appearances (particularly in Lewis County Superior Court and U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington). The ideal candidate brings strong litigation instincts and a collaborative approach to strategic filings developed in-house.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in civil litigation across a range of practice areas including foreclosure defense, housing rights, constitutional claims, and consumer protection.
- Review, file, and argue motions in Washington state and federal courts as attorney of record.
- Coordinate with lead counsel to strategize and execute complex litigation plans.
- Appear for hearings in person or via Zoom, as needed.
- Ensure compliance with local rules and filing protocols across Washington jurisdictions.
- Provide insight into local judicial and procedural norms to strengthen client outcomes.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the Washington State Bar.
- Litigation experience preferred; foreclosure defense or civil rights work is a plus but not required.
- Ability to file and appear in court (particularly in Lewis County or via Zoom).
- Comfortable collaborating with remote teams and contributing to filings prepared by others.
- Familiarity with Clio or equivalent case management software is a bonus.
