Who You AreWe are seeking an experienced and versatile Application Migration Specialist to support the transition of business-critical applications across on-premises, virtualized, and cloud-based environments. This role will be embedded within our infrastructure transformation and modernization initiatives and requires a strong technical foundation across application hosting, Active Directory, database services, and virtualization platforms.The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and executing application migrations, validating functional and performance requirements, and ensuring successful cutover while minimizing downtime and operational risk. This position demands excellent technical documentation, testing discipline, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Jolera’s service and delivery functions.This is a hands-on technical role requiring both breadth and depth in infrastructure services, application architecture, and cross-environment dependency mapping. The successful candidate will play a critical part in ensuring smooth transitions during infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations, and consolidation initiatives across Jolera’s global customer base.
What You’ll DoAs an Application Migration Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in the successful migration of business-critical applications across infrastructure platforms, including legacy systems, on-premise environments, and cloud-based ecosystems. You will lead the technical planning, execution, testing, and support activities associated with migrating applications while working collaboratively with cross-functional technical and business teams.This role requires a deep technical understanding of infrastructure services, databases, application dependencies, and cutover strategies to ensure seamless transitions with minimal impact on business operations.
Core Responsibilities:Application Assessment & Planning:- Perform discovery and dependency mapping of existing applications.- Assess compatibility with new environments (e.g., cloud readiness, OS support, DBMS compatibility).- Develop migration strategy, including phased cutover plans, rollback scenarios, and risk assessments.Migration Execution:- Coordinate and perform application migration from legacy or source environments to target infrastructure (e.g., Hyper-V, VMware, Azure, or on-prem Windows/Linux servers).- Configure supporting services (e.g., AD group policies, DNS entries, firewall rules, database connection strings) required for successful application operation in the new environment.Testing & Validation:- Develop and execute detailed test plans including UAT, performance, integration, and regression testing.- Collaborate with application owners and business stakeholders to validate functionality.Post-Migration Support & Optimization:- Monitor application performance post-migration and optimize configuration settings.- Troubleshoot technical issues related to connectivity, data integrity, or performance.- Provide hypercare support and root cause analysis (RCA) for any anomalies.Documentation:- Create detailed documentation for all migration steps including architecture diagrams, configuration baselines, test results, known issues, and resolutions.- Maintain runbooks for future reference and knowledge transfer to support teams.Collaboration:- Work closely with infrastructure, network, database, security, and DevOps teams to align migration activities with organizational standards.- Communicate progress and technical risks to project managers and stakeholders.
Required Technical Skills- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V)- Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and understanding of DB integration with applications- Experience with IIS, service accounts, and app configuration files- Ability to develop and execute test plans and troubleshoot post-migration issues- Proficient in documenting architecture diagrams and runbooks
Preferred Qualifications- 5+ years in IT roles with application support or migration experience- Experience with Azure or hybrid cloud environments- Familiarity with ITSM tools like ServiceNow- Certifications (e.g., MCSA, Azure Administrator, ITIL) are a plus.
