NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking a talented and experienced Architectural Designer (Building Envelope) to join our team in Orlando, FL. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on building enclosures, roofing and waterproofing systems, and facade projects. This role involves designing, planning, and overseeing the implementation of architectural solutions that enhance the performance and aesthetics of building exteriors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and design building envelope, roofing/waterproofing, and facade solutions for various projects.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations of existing building envelopes to identify issues and recommend improvements.
- Prepare detailed design construction documents related to roof replacement, building enclosure refurbishment, and facade enhancements.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure design solutions meet project requirements and client expectations.
- Perform field investigations, including moisture intrusion, non-destructive testing, and facade testing.
- Provide technical oversight and quality assurance during the construction phase to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
- Prepare technical reports documenting design solutions, investigative results, and observations.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, materials, and technologies related to building envelopes, roofing, and facades.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in architectural design with a focus on building envelope, roofing, and facade projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of building construction, waterproofing, air barriers, curtain walls, window systems, facades, and roofing.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant tools.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensed Architect or Engineer is preferred (not required)
- IIBEC Certifications such as Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC), or Registered Roof Observer (RRO) are a plus.
- Experience with sustainable design practices and LEED certification.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform work in outdoor temperature extremes.
- Ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and occasionally operate a mechanical boom lift.
- Willingness to travel overnight occasionally.
