The J Center for Early Learning, a Jewish preschool open to children of all faiths and backgrounds, ages 18 months to 5 years, is seeking a part-time Art Specialist. They will work one morning a week, either Monday or Wednesday. We nurture and guide each child physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually, in an environment where learning unfolds through play, inquiry and exploration.
Creativity and artistic expression are honored and part of every day. At The J, we are inspired by the Reggio Approach to early childhood education. We seek an Art Specialist with experience providing children with open-ended art experiences.
PLEASE HAVE SOMETHING IN YOUR RESUME THAT SHOWS EITHER SOME ARTISTIC BACKGROUND OR EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHING EXPERIENCE. YOU ARE DESIGNING THE ART PROGRAM AT OUR SCHOOL. WE DON'T HAVE SOMETHING TO HAND YOU TO TELL YOU TO TEACH TO THE CHILDREN.
The Art Specialist will:
- Work one (1) morning a week either Monday or Wednesday from 8:30 - 12:30
- Provide creative experiences such as: painting, collage, papermaking, clay work, printing, drawing and 3-dimensional design
Maintain the kiln room, art cart and supply closets
Coordinate classroom projects with teachers based on topics of interest
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching art to young children preferred. Must be knowledgeable about art especially as it pertains to young children.
- Collaborative approach to working with teachers required
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently
- Personally engaging and friendly
- Genuine respect and appreciation of small children is essential
- Must be able to pass a background check as required by Texas state law
