Asphalt Plant Laborer -Maintenance
Job Duties:
- Maintain conveyors, chutes and other moving parts through preventative maintenance to include greasing bearings, tighten/loosen bolts and general maintenance
- Physical use of a shovel to ensure proper flow of materials within the plant
- Use of bobcat/skid steer, mowers, trimmers to keep plant area neat and free of debris
- Visual and audio check of each moving area and reporting changes to management
- Helping with teardowns and overhauls of plant machinery as needed.
- Support the safe, efficient and high-quality project functions through manual labor such as raking, shoveling, digging, moving and cleanup of various materials
- Clean equipment and tools
- Perform other duties on the jobsite when equipment is not in operation, as to add to efficiency of our overall operation
- Follow all safety policies and PPE use.
Safety Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures
- Ability to lift and carry weights up to 50 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to walk and stand on uneven surfaces for long periods of time
- Ability to operate hand tools and small pieces of equipment
- Ability to stoop, bend and climb as needed
- Climbing of steps or ladders in excess of 60 ft is required
- Ability to read, speak, see and understand signs, signals, commands, instruction and safety policies
Experience/Skills Required:
- Preferred candidates should have at least 1 yr. experience in a field of construction, landscaping, farming/ranching or other environment working outdoors in extreme weather and in/around heavy equipment.
- Candidates are required to have the ability to operate company vehicles which require a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Professional demeanor when interacting with the public and customers.
- Proven experience in grounds maintenance or related field.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to equipment operation.
- Ability to learn to operate heavy machinery safely.
- Familiarity with landscaping techniques and tools is preferred.
- Basic welding skills are a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills.
