Background
Women’s Rowing at UC Davis is a competitive sport club at the University of California, Davis in Northern California. We are a self-funded team, rowing out of the Port of West Sacramento, and are organized and run by an elected council of student athletes. Our mission is to bring the sport of rowing to college athletes, encourage growth and leadership, and compete on a regional and national level. Our athletes are often new to the sport, however, we have a tradition of learning fast and being successful at competitive regattas such as San Diego Crew Classic, WIRA, and ACRA. This year, our Novice 8+ placed first at WIRA and had the fourth fastest time at ACRA. Our Varsity 4+ placed in the top twenty at ACRA.
Our university operates on a quarter system with three ten-week quarters. There are occasional council meetings in the summer months, and the coaching season is from mid-September through the end of May. There is no practice during winter break from mid-December to early January.
