The AMSTI Assistant Director will support the AMSTI Director in managing the efficient operation of the site, the mentoring and professional learning of the site staff, planning data-informed professional learning with LEAs, facilitating professional learning with regional leaders, financial reporting, public relations, and mentoring site staff for the purpose of continued professional growth. The Assistant Director reports to the site Director and will collaborate with the Director to ensure the site adheres to all AMSTI and IHE regulations and requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities
• In support of the site Director, the Assistant Director will contribute to the effective day-to-day operations and activities of the AMSTI site.
• In collaboration with the site Director, provide ongoing mentoring, coaching, feedback, and professional learning opportunities for AMSTI UAH content specialists, support personnel, AMSTI/ASIM materials staff, potential AMSTI staff and teacher trainers.
• Communicate and collaborate with AMSTI ALSDE to implement all assigned AMSTI projects, including facilitating professional learning, participating in AMSTI workgroups and other duties as assigned.
• Partner with LEA leaders, site PD Coordinator, and content specialists to plan, organize, and oversee professional learning opportunities for teachers, administrators, math coaches and other stakeholders.
• Communicate and collaborate with administrators, LEAs, and OMI RCs as applicable to provide data-driven guidance, support, and professional learning plans.
• Coordinate all content specialist and teacher train-the-trainer events.
• Collaborate with the Director and Budget Analyst on the development and tracking of all site budgets, monthly invoices, travel vouchers, expenditures, and all financial operations and documentation as required by AMSTI-ALSDE and the institute of higher education associated with the site
• Communicate and work in close collaboration with AMSTI-ALSDE, other AMSTI sites, Regional Inservice Centers, IHEs, Office of Mathematics Improvement, and other ALSDE regional departments and leaders.
• Partner with AMSTI affiliates, IHEs, museums, local businesses and initiatives, and other stakeholders to promote STEM education.
• Arrange publicity and media releases showcasing regional AMSTI events, including managing the social media content of the site.
• Foster positive initiative and site public relations with local school systems, businesses, community entities, and institutions of higher education.
• Master’s Degree
• 5 -21 or more years of full-time related work experience
• Experience facilitating adult professional learning
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Google Suite
• Some travel is required
• Education leadership certification and experience
