Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing (DON), the ADON supports and manages nursing services to ensure residents receive high-quality care in accordance with physician orders, facility policy, and regulatory standards. The ADON oversees day-to-day clinical operations and acts as DON in their absence


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the DON with 24‑hour supervision and oversight of all nursing services
  • Coordinate direct care planning in line with physician orders, federal/state regulations, and facility policies
  • Maintain and monitor clinical care standards through regular audits
  • Support the DON in staff scheduling, competency evaluations, training, and development of nursing staff
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with clinical quality indicators; participate in quality assurance/improvement programs
  • Partner with physicians, therapists, consultants, and community agencies to enhance resident care
  • Lead infection control efforts including surveillance, trend analysis, and reporting to the QA committee
  • Prepare for and manage clinical survey processes, including staff education and corrective action implementation
  • Report incidents, accidents, and unusual occurrences daily to the Administrator or Executive Director
  • Promote compliance with safety regulations and worker’s compensation protocols
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the evolving needs of the facility

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Kansas
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of 2 years of supervisory nursing experience; 5+ years in long-term or acute care preferred
  • Solid knowledge of nursing regulations, electronic medical records, and QA/QI processes
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with staff, residents, and external stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as an ADON or Clinical Nurse Manager in long-term care
  • Knowledgeable about Medicare and Medicaid requirements
  • CPR certification and training skills
