Job Title: Assistant General Manager
Reports to: General Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary: Oversees the quality and success of Goldfish Swim School. This encompasses all daily operations including staffing, safety, pool operations, swim lesson quality, customer service, cash management and workplace employee activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Directs and controls the daily operations to ensure the school is running according to GSS standard operating procedures.
  • Helps the General Manager and department managers fulfill the daily tasks.
  • Manages the staff of GSS to ensure high productivity, excellent performance and positive employee satisfaction.
  • Provides customer service follow-up with members.
  • Gains knowledge and experience in all technology platforms to achieve a high level of competence in bookings, class scheduling, reporting and administrative functions.
  • Provides sales and marketing training to all qualified sales staff.
  • Provides direction in the retail and vending departments to ensure a proper mix of products and pricing is achieved.
  • Provides training of Front Desk staff to provide superior performance in customer service, understanding of lesson scheduling software, Point of Sale, and promotional items.
  • Trains and oversees birthday party staff to ensure that the GSS standard operating procedures are being maintained.
  • Interacts with the Deck Supervisors, Golden Teachers and wet side staff on issues related to class scheduling, student progress, customer service and employee performance and training.
  • Oversees and provides ongoing development of the aquatics department to provide superior swim instruction to the students of GSS.
  • Initiates and oversees workplace culture and employee interaction. Maintain a high level of employee satisfaction.
  • Directs and oversees the implementation of the Emergency Action Plan and all safety procedures that pertain to the GSS facility, and trains all current staff on the GSS EAP.
  • Gains a high level of knowledge and experience in the GSS pump room operations necessary to maintain a safe and sanitary swim environment and troubleshoot as necessary.
  • Maintains current certifications and stays up-to-date professionally on the aquatics and management field.
Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED is required. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, and/or childcare provider required. Experience in marketing, sales, and social media preferred. One or more years as a swimming instructor is preferred. Minimum experience of 6 months to 1 year in leadership role.
Certificates and Licenses: Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and AED required. Certified Pool Operator certification and Lifeguard Instructor certification highly recommended.
Work Environment: While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.
