Salary Range: $1,732.84 - $1,896.54 bi-weekly. Salary reflects steps 1-5 of an 11-step pay schedule. The starting salary will be determined based on the applicant’s education and relevant experience.
Position Summary: The Assistant Child Welfare Prevention and Support Services (CWPSS) Program Supervisor at Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch plays a key leadership role in delivering child welfare prevention and support services. As an integral member of the Leadership Team, they collaborate with other leaders to uphold the mission and values of the organization while ensuring program effectiveness. The Assistant CWPSS Program Supervisor is responsible for driving strategic initiatives, maintaining compliance with established goals, and serving as a primary liaison with internal and external agencies and partners.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Provides leadership and supervision to assigned employees as outlined in the supervisor duties below.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Plans and directs work, ensuring that work schedules are adhered to and assigning specific duties to subordinate staff.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training employees. Conducts staff evaluations, job performance management (including coaching/counseling), and corrective action.
- Responsible for ensuring appropriate staff training and education programs are provided. Schedule and conduct regular staff meetings.
- Demonstrates effective management of a team toward achievement of goals, including appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Program Oversight & Service Delivery: Assist the CWPSS Program Supervisor in providing leadership and oversight of CWPSS services and staff to ensure high-quality service delivery. Offer direct CWPSS services to families as needed and/or assigned by the supervisor.
- Family Support & Case Management: Assist families through structured, goal-oriented meetings, providing educational, emotional, and community support. Conduct risk assessments and uphold confidentiality to foster healthy relationships that promote family stability and reunification.
- Compliance & Documentation: Assist the CWPSS Program Supervisor to assure accurate and timely documentation in accordance with COA standards, Montana ARM regulations, contractual obligations, and YBGR policies. Ensure adherence to legal and ethical guidelines in all service areas.
- Collaboration & Advocacy: Act as a primary liaison with external agencies, service providers, and community partners to coordinate resources and advocate for families’ needs. Strengthen partnerships to enhance service effectiveness.
- Program Development & Quality Assurance: Contribute to the continuous improvement of CWPSS services by evaluating program effectiveness, implementing best practices, and supporting strategic initiatives aligned with YBGR’s mission and values.
- Crisis Intervention & Problem-Solving: Provide guidance and support in crisis situations, assisting staff and families in developing effective solutions to challenges while ensuring child safety and well-being.
- Contribute to the strategic goals and outcomes of the agency as measured by the development and achievement of individual, departmental, and organizational goals and outcomes. Participate in Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) goals of the organization individually and as a team member.

Required Qualifications:
- 21 years old or older
- Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance: Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in human services related field of study from an accredited university. A combination of previous professional experience and formal education from an accredited university may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Knowledge of Child Welfare Services: In-depth understanding of child welfare prevention, family support services, risk assessment, and case management best practices. Familiarity with Montana ARM regulations, COA standards, and relevant policies.

Physical/Environmental Demands & Requirements:
- Work environment: This position will generally work indoors in a climate-controlled environment but occasionally will work in an outdoor environment where they may not be protected from weather conditions.
- Will occasionally be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time while performing administrative duties.
- Will frequently operate computer, keyboard, and other office equipment.
- Consistently needs to move about inside building, outside to include uneven terrain, changes in elevation, and frequently change body position from and to standing, kneeling, sitting, and prone.
- Occasionally will be required to assist in the physical restraint of a youth (50-300lbs) who is a safety risk to themselves or others.
- The person in this position will constantly communicate with clients, their treatment team, and others. Must be able to communicate accurate information and accurately understand information communicated by those individuals.
- Must be able to perceive, recognize, and observe client’s behavior to include non-verbal cues expressed by the client.
