What you get to do:
Make a significant contribution to our overall guest experience by helping train and mentor Educators and Instructors; supervise the day-to-day operations of the tour, sleepover, school field trip, and guest education programs; and create a healthy and safe environment for both guests and animals as they interact in programs throughout the park. In all you do, you’ll enthusiastically represent the organization by displaying a positive attitude, high level of energy and commitment to quality. You will also:
- Conducts Educator and Instructor performance evaluations and provides coaching
- Participates in staff training.
- Supervises and is responsible for day-to-day operations, scheduling, and logistics of tour, guest, school, field trip, and sleepover programs
- Responsible for opening/closing the Education operations programs as the Duty Manager
- Provide sales leadership in guest service areas including Animal Interaction Center.
- Ensures excellent customer service by responding to customer requirements, expectations, and needs
- Screens guest feedback with survey results and follows up with questions and concerns
- Monitors and enforces all company and department policies
- Adheres company standards and ACA guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
What it takes to succeed:
- Must be least 19 years old
- Have a high school diploma, or equivalent. Some college education is preferred.
- Have a minimum of 3-6 months experience as an informal science educator at a zoological for museum type facility and/or equivalent experience.
- Have a valid driver’s license; must have valid driver’s license from state of residency with a good driving record
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, guest-centric environment and able to interact and provide quality customer service to guests as needed
- Be able to positively interact with guests and co-workers of all ages, different ethnic/cultural backgrounds and/or language, and individuals with special needs
- Work well within a team structure
- Be able to sit, stand and walk for prolonged periods of time
- Be able to lift or move up to 40 lbs
- Be able to work outdoors exposed to sunny, wet and humid conditions.
- Be able to use computer and camp specific programs including MPR, Global Reservations, Camp Doc, Sea Bird, and more.
- Previous Education experience strongly preferred
- Must have 5 days of unrestricted availability to include weekends, holidays, early mornings and late evenings
- Flexibility in working varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
