Good Child Development Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has been providing excellence in childcare for 56 years. Located in the heart of Milford, Connecticut, we house children ages 6 weeks to 6 years in an state of the art facility that focuses on cognitive growth and social-emotional development. Our center uses a play to learn methodology and focuses on meeting children where they are at, through an individualized approach that adapts the curriculum and routine to each child's specific needs. We are proud to serve families of all backgrounds, ethnicities and affiliations in an all inclusive early childhood education program.
Job Overview
We're seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher's Assistant to join our team.
The ideal candidate will support our lead teacher in creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for preschool children, fostering their social, emotional, and cognitive development.
This role requires a commitment to providing high-quality care for children ages 3 to 6 years old, while collaborating with parents and staff to ensure the best outcomes for each child.
Our a play-to-learn approach supports intellectual and social growth through fun and engaging activities that incorporate art, science, literacy, socializing, motor skills.
Our all inclusive center serves children and families of all backgrounds . Our preschool classroom is licensed for 18 students in a 10:1 ratio.
Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in planning and implementing age-appropriate educational activities that promote learning and development.
- Provide care and support for preschoolers, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the school day.
- Foster a positive learning environment by encouraging student participation and engagement.
- Implement behavior management strategies to maintain a respectful and productive classroom atmosphere.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and any concerns that may arise.
- Support students with diverse needs by adapting teaching methods to meet individual requirements.
- Maintain an organized classroom environment, including preparing materials for lessons and cleaning up after activities and meals.
- Support lead teachers with serving meals, preparing for nap time, assisting with diapering and potty training.
- Collaborate with other educators to create an inclusive learning environment that respects each child's unique abilities.
- Implement closing procedures to wrap classrooms activities for the day.
Skills
- Willingness to learn from more experienced teachers.
- Ability to multitask and determine priorities in a hectic environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Experience in childcare, specifically with toddlers and preschoolers.
- Effective communication skills to interact positively with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to implement behavior management techniques effectively.
- A genuine passion for educating young learners and fostering their growth.
Expected Hours
Full Time 9am to 6pm - 1 hour lunch

Requirements
- Previous experience in a childcare setting
- Work authorization
- Background check
- Current Physical Exam (less than 1 year old)
