Bright Light Academy is seeking an experienced Assistant Teacher to join our two-year-olds' teaching team. Candidates MUST have two+ years of experience working with young children (preferably under the age of 3), be a team player, high energy & able to multi-task. A CDA is a plus & all candidates must qualify as an Assistant Group Supervisors with DHS to be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with co-teachers to plan and implement daily lesson plans and activities.
- Help create a safe and stimulating classroom environment for toddlers.
- Monitor, engage & assist children during playtime, meals, personal hygiene & other daily routines.
- Provide individual and group support to children as needed.
- Communicate regularly with parents about their child's development & progress.
- Complete observations & assessments as needed.
Qualifications:
- Have two years of experience working with young children (2500 hours).
- Must qualify as a, Assistant Group Supervisor or higher with the Dept. of Human Services.
- Able to pass state, federal, and child abuse background checks.
- Be able to pass a drug test.
- Be 18 years or older and able to work in the United States.
- A love for children and a desire to work with toddlers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Be able to lift up to 40lbs, see, hear & sit on the floor with children.
- Must be patient, nurturing, and able to create a positive learning environment.
- Bilingual is a plus.
- A CDA certification is a plus.
Position Overview:
- There is room for growth in this position with funding from the state for staff to further their education.
- This is a full-time position, but Bright Light full-time staff work a 4-day work week.
- The pay range starts at $17-$18.50 per hour ($33,500-$36,000 annually), relative to experience & education, with an additional pay increase based on performance at the end of a 90-day probation period.
- Full-time staff also receive paid holidays & PTO, sick pay, vision & dental insurance, annual raises, reduced child care & more.
