Job Summary
This position reports to the center director and is responsible for designing and implementing programs and initiatives that further NTID's international outreach and supporting international for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students. The associate director will utilize existing networks to develop and grow partnerships with businesses and organizations and address policy issues related to deaf education. The associate director will organize activities and meetings with various stakeholders and recruit additional expert consultants to assist with project specific tasks as needed. The associate director will develop metrics and organize and conduct evaluations of each initiative. The associate director will write multiple financial and narrative reports. The associate director will represent the center director in their absence.
This role requires expertise in international education, Deaf education, and program management. The Associate Director will collaborate with NTID faculty, staff, and international partners to strengthen NTID's global presence, drive successful educational outreach, and ensure the recruitment, retention, and success of international students. This position also oversees the an Endowed scholarship and provides strategic direction to meet institutional goals for the fund.
Please note-this positions requires willingness to travel (domestically and internationally)overnight/weekends.

Job Responsibilities:

Collaborate with local and international government agencies and educational institutions to grow and expand NTID's global outreach and partnership initiatives. This includes but is not limited to:
- Working closely with the center director on obtaining external funding to support the center's activities: including identifying funding opportunities; drafting concept papers/proposals; and supporting the implementation
- Arranging short-term and long-term delegation and/or exchange visits in collaboration with local campus partners (ex. NTID President's Office, RIT Global, ISS, etc.) and off campus partners (ex. Roc Global Connections, UR, etc.)
- Developing communications such as creating and posting content for the center website, drafting Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and Memorandums of Agreement (MOAs), course articulation agreements, short-term cultural and research exchange agreements, etc.
- Responding to general questions and inquiries on NTID's international outreach
- Tracking center project activities and outcomes

Serve as NTID's faculty-led study abroad liaison:
- Work closely with NTID faculty and RIT Global to ensure new and renewal faculty-led programs meet current policy and procedural requirements. Serve as point of contact for NTID faculty's questions and concerns on developing proposals.
- Set up workshops and presentations on faculty-led programs and participate in RIT's annual study abroad fairs
- Facilitate proposal reviews by faculty committee and make recommendations to the IEO director for approval
- Collaborate with DAS to provide IEO director with information on all NTID supported students on study abroad and budget implications

Engagement with NTID-Supported International Students:
- Ensure compliance with Department of Education regulations and institutional policies regarding international student enrollment and financial support
- Conduct financial reviews on all incoming international students with NTID Financial Service Coordinator, NTID Budget and Finance, and Admissions offices
- Serve as point of contact for NTID supported international student questions and concerns
- Conduct language proficiency interviews with incoming students as needed

Scholarship Students:
- Continually update policy documents, forms, and reports on current and former scholars
- Monitor the scholarship funds and make projections on the number of students supported
- Work with IEO director to determine eligibility and selection of students each year.
- Ensure retention of students and good standing for the scholarship through providing new student orientation, onboarding, proactively conducting meetings with students and advisors, designing relevant programming, monitoring student grades
- Provide annual reports to the sponsor on scholars and maintain the scholars association online network page
- Collect and analyze data on NTID supported international students to make decisions about future enrollment and retention goals

Required Qualifications:

- Advanced Degree: Master's degree in Deaf Education, Public Policy, International Development, International Education, Business Administration, or related field.
- Valid passport or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
Experience:
- At least two years' experience working independently under guided supervision
- At least two years' experience creating and delivering courses, workshops or training in deaf education related topics
- Must be a clear and effective communicator, both written and oral, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to independently multi-task several projects at once and manage competing deadlines
Skills:
- Keen awareness of cultural nuances, strong interpersonal skills, experience with international student admission, advising, etc.; willingness to travel (domestically and internationally)
- Ability to proficiently communicate using American Sign Language, Signed English and knowledge of Deaf culture, with a preference towards an ASL Sign Communication Proficiency Interview (SCPI) rating of Intermediate ** or higher
- In-depth knowledge of deaf culture and deaf education
- High level of writing skills as evidenced by successful publications, print communications or curriculum
- Excellent presentation, organizational, and platform skills
- Proven qualities of flexibility, teamwork, and client service orientation
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain international partnerships.
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis
- In-depth knowledge of computer software including but not limited to: MS Office Suite, Google Workplace, Zoom, Slack, etc.
