Automation Machine Builder Lead

JOB SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to assign and check the work of machine builders ensuring quality checks and schedules are upheld. Work with customers, service personnel, and engineers to assist with building, commissioning, facility acceptance testing and installation of equipment.

The following responsibilities are typical of this position but are not all encompassing. The primary responsibility is carrying out the work required to satisfy our customer expectations.

• Essential Job Functions:
• Assist in monitoring and enforcing quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives, ensure that assemblies and equipment are built according to the correct procedure.
• Works with their Manager to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments and to create solutions to complex problems.
• Recommend and/or implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and/or efficiency.
• Mechanical Sub-assembly of equipment
• Machine Assembly
• Pneumatic assembly
• Electric Panel Assembly
• Equipment Wire routing
• Equipment installation – Mechanical
• Equipment Installation – Electrical
• Operate mills and lathes.
• Operate drill press, arbor press, bench grinder.
• Equipment service – Mechanical
• Mechanical Trouble Shooting – Debug
• LEADERSHIP AND EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT:
• Assist in supervising, coaching, and motivating department employees.
• Assist in the coordination and conduct employee training in equipment operations and work procedures to ensure that all work is performed correctly and efficiently.
• Assist with the review of performance and evaluation of department employees with department supervisor.
• Assist the department supervisor and Human Resources in the execution of personnel actions, such as hiring, evaluations, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
• Work with department supervisor and Human Resources to resolve employee issues, complaints, or grievances.
• Work with the department supervisor to conduct team meetings and act as the conduits for company communications to all department employees.

• Assist the department supervisor to coordinate resources to allow for training and continuous work while meeting production requirements.
• Continuous Improvement:
• Proactively identify and participate in process improvement activities to promote continuous improvement.
• Leads and implements small-scale continuous improvement projects.
• Supports other facility related projects and initiatives as assigned.
• Working with the Documentation Specialist, assists with the development and writing of assembly instructions and new work processes.
• Standards and Procedures:
• Ensure that standard operating procedures and processes are adhered to
• Enforce and adhere to all Procedures, Policies and Processes at all times.
• Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Monitor workplace safety and work with others to minimize and eliminate safety risks and obstacles.

• Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely meeting federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with federal, state, and local standards.
• Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years of work experience required.
• Associate’s degree Automation Technology or Mechatronics or equivalent experience
• Other Requirements:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal customers.
• Excellent computer proficiency (Microsoft® Word™, Excel®, Outlook® and Teams®)
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude
• Ability to work independently and to carry our assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
• Ability to read Mechanical part and assembly drawings.
• Ability to interpret schematics.
• Ability to read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
• Ability to interpret specifications, schematics, job orders, and company policies and procedures for employees.
• Ability to inspect materials, products, and/or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
• Mechanically inclined individual with excellent attention to detail
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, time management and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
• Ability to multi-task and must be organized.
• Must be familiar with manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP Software is required.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Ability to travel up to 20% of work hours
• Lift raw materials, final products, and items packed for shipment, manually up to 50 lbs.
• Abrasive deburring and tumbling components

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
