Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Service Writer to join our dynamic team in the automotive service industry. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in automotive diagnostics and repair, along with exceptional customer service skills. As a Service Writer, you will act as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring their needs are met while effectively communicating with technicians to facilitate the repair process.
Duties
- Greet customers and assess their service needs, providing excellent customer service throughout the entire process.
- Create detailed service orders and estimates for repairs, including upselling additional services when appropriate.
- Collaborate with service technicians to understand vehicle issues and communicate findings to customers clearly.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed, parts used, and customer interactions.
- Handle cash transactions and manage payment processing efficiently.
- Ensure timely follow-up with customers regarding service updates and completion timelines.
- Stay informed about automotive technology advancements and dealership promotions to provide knowledgeable recommendations to customers.
- Assist in managing the workflow within the service department to optimize efficiency.
Experience
- Previous experience in a dealership or automotive service environment is preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in vehicle maintenance, automotive repair, and diagnostics is essential.
- Familiarity with various automotive systems including transmissions, brakes, air brakes, alignment, suspension, tire service, diesel engine repair, shocks & struts, and oil changes is beneficial.
- Experience in auto estimating and service writing is highly desirable.
- Proven ability in upselling services and products while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on providing outstanding customer service.
