Position Summary:
The barback supports the bartending team by ensuring the bar is always well-stocked, clean, and organized. This role is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and smooth operation of the bar area, allowing bartenders to focus on serving guests. The barback is an essential part of the team, providing the backbone of support that keeps the bar running seamlessly.
Responsibilities: Stocking Supplies:
- Replenish liquor, beer, wine, ice, glassware, and other supplies as needed.
- Maintain an adequate supply of garnishes, napkins, straws, and other necessary items.
- Ensure all supplies are well-organized and easily accessible to bartenders.
- Keep the bar area clean and tidy, including washing and drying glassware, wiping down surfaces, and sweeping or mopping the floor.
- Take out trash and recycle regularly.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in storage areas.
- Assisting Bartenders: Help bartenders with preparation tasks such as cutting garnishes, preparing mixers, and organizing drink orders.
- Ensure bartenders have everything they need to serve customers efficiently.
- Assist in restocking the bar during and after service hours.
- Customer Service: Greet and interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Address customer needs or direct them to the appropriate bartender.
- Help maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere in the bar. I
- Assist in monitoring inventory levels and informing management when supplies are running low. 2. Participate in regular inventory counts and organization.
- Ensure proper rotation of stock to minimize waste.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and procedures
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws regarding alcohol service.
Position Requirements:
- Prior experience in a bar or restaurant environment preferred. Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs).
- This role requires working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in an environment exposed to secondhand smoke, moderate to loud noise levels, and varied light levels, including flashing lights. Ability to stand, walk, bend for entire shift.
