MunchiLove is a woman-owned artisan bakery which specializes in crafting fillable brownies. In addition to our unique, patented concept for brownies and sweets, we are proud to offer a full-service espresso bar dedicated to crafting amazing coffee beverages. For the past three years, MunchiLove has operated as a mobile venue and worked with the areas biggest names.
We opened our first brick and mortar in December of 2024 and are excited to build a community and following in Governor's Village in Chapel Hill, NC.
**Position Overview:**
We are seeking a dedicated Lead Barista to join our team. This full-time position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the coffee bar area. The Lead Barista will collaborate closely with bakery staff and management to ensure seamless operations and maintain optimal inventory levels. This role requires a deep understanding and love for coffee, a knack for creating innovative drink recipes, and the ability to foster a positive and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of baristas, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure exceptional customer service and consistent coffee quality.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for both customers and team members, promoting a culture of respect and teamwork.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for coffee preparation, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with management to ensure adequate stock of coffee beans, syrups, and other supplies.
- Place weekly orders to ensure the coffee bar is equipped at all times.
- Stay updated on industry trends and new coffee products; introduce new beverages and specials to enhance the café’s menu offerings.
- Handle customer inquiries and concerns professionally, aiming for swift resolution and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar and equipment, ensuring a hygienic and efficient workspace.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a barista in a high-volume café or coffee shop, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Passion for coffee and a deep understanding of coffee bean origins, brewing methods, and flavor profiles.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate and inspire a team.
- Creative mindset with the ability to innovate and develop new drink recipes.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in pouring latte art
- Basic knowledge of inventory management and cost control principles.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
