Bartender Job Description
SUMMARY:
Serves beverages to guests and beverage servers in a friendly positive manner. Responsible for maintaining a clean, attractive environment in accordance with all company policies, standards and procedures. Responsible for gaming duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work cards are to be on your person at all times during shift. Serve alcohol responsibly in accordance with alcohol awareness training.
- Inform your immediate supervisor of any product shortages and equipment needs.
- Always conduct yourself in a manner that reflects a positive and professional image.
- Practice and observe safety rules and regulations and encourage others to do so. Must comply with Nevada Health Department standards.
- Must maintain good personal grooming and uniform standards while on duty.
- Have knowledge of where the SDS booklet is located for your area.
- Display knowledge of all emergency procedures.
- Responsible for informing the immediate supervisor of any team member or guest opportunities.
- Perform any other duties as directed by management.
- Promote a safe and clean environment for fellow team members and guests.
- Always keep the work area clean.
- Responsible for knowing the types of classes and brand names of the products offered. Should be familiar with the substitute items to offer to a guest in the event an item is ordered that we do not carry.
- Must have thorough understanding and knowledge of all drink recipes, preparation and garnishment of the drinks.
- Knowledge of the operation of all soda, juice and liquor guns.
- Responsible for the handling of company funds through cash transactions on the P.O.S. system, as well as any gaming transactions, in accordance with all company policies, procedures and gaming regulations. Knowledge of how to operate P.O.S. system.
- Knowledge of and ability to handle the chemicals for the glass washing machine in a safe manner. Have knowledge of where the S.D.S. booklet is located for that area.
- Responsible and accountable for all cash variances.
- Responsible for maintaining an A grade per health department regulations on a daily basis.
- Serve beverage servers only at their station.
- Keep bar completely stocked for next shift.
- Must comply with all closing procedures at the end of shift in accordance with management guidelines.
- Beverage Team Members working within a restaurant must be familiar with all menu items and able to answer guest’s questions regarding the restaurant.
- Must be familiar with all company and departmental beverage policies and procedures.
- Must maintain proper flow of beverage service to beverage servers in accordance with company standards and handle cocktail call procedures in a fast and efficient manner.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
26. Duties include knowledge of gaming procedures including: managing a slot bank, providing accurate change and cashing out winnings from video poker games, following check cashing and credit card advance procedures as set forth by management.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
- Must manage time effectively with minimum supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests, team members and management in English both in written and verbal form.
- Ability to make quick judgement decisions.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Shifts may include evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Requires the physical ability to stand for long periods of time, bend or reach to a height of 6 feet with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Requires normal, corrected vision range and absence of color blindness. Requires the ability to distinguish letters and symbols.
- Requires eye/hand coordination. Requires normal sense of smell, taste, touch and sound. Requires regular and predictable attendance. Requires good verbal communication skills.
- Follow all safety policies and departmental procedures.
OTHER:
Work is typically in an area which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, smoky indoor service. Work may be performed in small areas with a 3 foot access.
Tasks performed from a non-sitting position. Team members will be required to stand, walk, lift, reach, push, pull, grasp, squat and bend. These tasks include the maintenance and care of an assigned area and constant contact with team members and guests.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL and ABILITY:
- Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Extensive knowledge of wines, spirits, beverages, cordials and after dinner drinks.
- Thorough knowledge of how to operate the point of sales system.
- Must have thorough understanding and knowledge of all drink recipes, preparations and garnishment of drinks.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Experience: Cash handling experience, responsible for all transactions in a tavern/bar environment.
Required: Must be able to obtain all required work cards for the position as well as a health card and alcohol awareness card.
