Job Summary
Milestone Behavioral Health is seeking Behavior Technicians / Level 1 and Level 2 EIDBI Providers to join our established Twin Cities-based program. In this role, you will work one-on-one or in group settings with children and adolescents diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), using principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
As a Behavior Technician, you will be trained to provide ABA and/or EIDBI services to a diverse caseload of 6–12 clients under the age of 18.
Behavior Therapist Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Candidates must qualify as a Level 1 or Level 2 EIDBI provider and provide sufficient documentation for verification of status
- Candidates must pass a criminal background check
- Candidates must be interested in working with adults with ASD
- Candidates must possess the interpersonal skills to be playful, enthusiastic, and bring a high level of energy into the therapy situation
- Candidates must be able to develop an effective rapport with clients and client caregivers
- Candidates must have the ability to read written treatment directions, collect numeric data, and summarize the results; in addition, strong writing skills to document treatment sessions are required
- Candidates must be willing to work well with a team and comply with supervisory direction
Requirements
- Experience or education in special education, behavioral therapy, or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with working with individuals on the autism spectrum and those with developmental disabilities is essential.
- Strong skills in patient assessment and the ability to implement behavioral health strategies effectively.
- Knowledge of medical documentation practices and HIPAA regulations is required.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- A commitment to providing compassionate care and support to individuals with disabilities.
Education:
Candidates must qualify as a Level 1 or Level 2 EIDBI provider and provide sufficient documentation for verification of status, as defined by the Minnesota Department of Human Services:
For a Level1 EIDBI provider, the qualifications (“standard criteria”) include either completing: i) at least 2,000 hours of supervised clinical experience and/or training in the examination and/or treatment of people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or a related condition; or ii) the equivalent in graduate-level coursework at an accredited university, plus meeting at least one of the following requirements:
- Have a doctoral or master’s degree from an accredited college or university in behavioral health, child development or a related field;
- Be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D) or a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, Inc. (BACB);
- Have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in behavioral health, child development or a related field;
- Be a Board Certified assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) through the BACB and have 4,000 hours of supervised clinical experience that meets all registration, supervision and continuing education requirements of the certification; or
- Meet the requirements for a provider shortage variance one or two.
For a Level 2 EIDBI provider, the qualifications (“standard criteria”) include meeting at least one of the following sets of requirements:
- Have a bachelor’s degree plus one of the following: i) at least 1,000 hours of clinical experience, ii) completion of qualifying graduate level coursework, iii) be a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, Inc. (BACB), (iv) be a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) through the BACB, or v) be certified in one of the other treatment modalities recognized by DHS;
- Have bothi) an associate’s degree, and ii) at least 2,000 hours of supervised clinical experience;
- Have at least 4,000 hours of supervised clinical experience delivering treatment to people with ASD or a related condition;
- Be both i) a graduate student in specific programs, and ii) formally assigned by an accredited college or university to an EIDBI provider for training; or
- Meet the requirements for a provider shortage variance one or two.
