The Behavioral Intervention Specialist (IBS) is responsible for providing clinical behavior treatment and intervention support to prevent an individual's behavior from reaching crisis level. The behavioral intervention specialist and the psychologist are responsible for developing a Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) and Behavioral Support Plans (BSP) The Behavioral Intervention Specialist must provide staff training, and supervision of an individual who has a BSP in the implementation of the individual's plan to ensure interventions are utilized and implemented as intended and as written. to direct support staff and consults with other professionals regarding the individuals' status. This position is responsible to maintain all required documentation as required by OPWDD and agency policies. The salary is $38.24/hr , with 20 hours per week work schedule.

  • Level 1 behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) may develop and/or provide supervision for behavioral support plans or service that include restrictive/ intrusive interventions.
  • Level 2 BIS may develop behavioral support plans or services that do not include restrictive/ intrusive interventions under the supervision of Level 1 BIS.
  • Behavioral support plans or services which includes restrictive interventions may be developed by a level 1 or level 2 BIS under the supervision of a licensed psychologist or licensed clinical social worker (LCSW)
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Participate in all interdisciplinary team meetings, clinical meeting, IRC/HRC meetings, individual annual and semi-annual meetings as needed, including intake screenings.
  • Psychological reports to be forwarded to QMRP for review prior to individuals 30-day and annual and semi-annual meetings.
  • Complete monthly psychiatric reports with medication ranges to accompany individuals on psychiatric appointments.
  • Implement, review and update behavior plan as needed.
  • Ensure the HRC forms (review or behavior management and psychotropic medication plan) are completed in a timely manner.
  • Implement behavior tracking management. ABC sheets for appropriateness of contents and follow up on individual's needs.
  • Conduct in-services and training on individuals' diagnosis and behaviors on a quarterly basis.
  • Provide individual Counseling on a weekly basis and document individual's progress.
  • Ensure all individuals are treated with respect and dignity.
  • Be on call for emergency counseling, if individuals should have behavioral outburst or were subjected to psychological abuse.
  • Carries out all relevant policies and procedures of the agency issued by management in accordance with OPWDD regulations and guidelines. This does not limit the assignment of duties or exclude the performance of other duties, not mentioned as assigned by supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master's degree in psychology, Social Work, or Applied Psychology as it relates to Human development and clinical intervention,
  • National Board Certification in Behavior analysis (BCBA)
  • New York State license in mental health and 5 years' experience in an OPWDD clinical setting providing applied behavior analysis.
