The Benefits Specialist will be responsible for supporting employees and ensuring seamless administration of company benefit programs.
Responsibilities
- Administer day-to-day operations of group benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, FSA, retirement plans, stock purchase etc.).
- Serve as a liaison between employees and the third-party administrator to resolve benefit-related issues.
- Assist in benefits enrollment, new hire onboarding, and open enrollment processes.
- Audit and maintain accurate and up-to-date benefits records in HRIS systems.
- Educate employees about their benefits, eligibility, and changes.
- Assist employees with qualifying life events and ensure proper documentation and timely updates.
- Process monthly benefit invoices and coordinate with Accounts Payable to ensure timely payment and accurate record keeping.
- Audit benefit billing and payroll deductions for accuracy and reconcile discrepancies.
- Generate benefits reports and assist with annual filings such as 5500s, nondiscrimination testing and 401k Audit.
- Participate in wellness initiatives and employee engagement related to benefits.
- Coordinate and assist with state-mandated benefits reporting.
- Oversee PTO assignments, balances and accruals.
- Administer Tuition Reimbursement program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Up to two years of relevant experience in benefits administration or human resources preferred; internships or academic projects welcome.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Willingness to learn and adapt.
