Job Title: Budtender
Department: Retail Sales
Reports To: General Manager
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Starting Compensation: $17.00 per hour in addition to earned commissions and tips (You keep your own tips)
Summary: The Budtender directly reports the General Manager and is primarily responsible for the consistent delivery of excellent service to guests. This position is the first point of contact for guests. The Budtender maintains an appealing retail environment and assists guests with their shopping needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Greets guests with an upbeat and positive energy and ensures the guest immediately feels welcome and comfortable.
- Delivers overall explanation of the industry to new guests, provides a tour of the space,
escorts to the product display, and provides accurate information on specific products of interest.
- Assists guests with their selection of products and offers multiple product suggestions.
- Assist the Manager with additional duties and projects as needed including; bar-coding,
displaying, reorganizing products, cleaning, etc.
- Researches and maintains an understanding of recent laws and regulations for both
recreational and medical guests as it pertains to the cannabis industry.
- Understands the responsibility of having a designated cash register, handling large
amounts of money, accepting cash payments for merchandise purchases, verifying
transactions with the guest and confirming order ticket with Floor Manager prior to finalizing an order.
- Contributes to the store’s goal of maintaining a 90%+ Net Promoter Score by delivering consistent, high-quality service; achieves an average transaction value of $45.00
- Participates in the everyday cleaning procedures when not attending to a guest, maintaining a clean and tidy retail space at all times.
- Keeps all products clean and organized in the correct display case as assigned.
- Trains new employees upon hire on the shops everyday operations and various duties and responsible required of the position.
- Maintains positive relationships and interactions with fellow co-workers, vendors, guests, and anyone whom comes into the store for any other purpose.
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable California cannabis regulations, including METRC traceability requirements and customer identification verification protocols.
- Performs all duties in day to day operations.
- Regular, predictable attendance is required.
- Must be available to work minimum of 20 hours per week. Schedules are subject to change based on needs of the business.
- Ability to get along and work effectively with others.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory duties.

1. Requirements:
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred experience working in the industry and knowledge of the varying medical benefits of the different cannabinoids within marijuana.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, and correspondence. Ability to orally communicate effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concretevariables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software and the Microsoft Office Suite of products. Knowledge of basic office equipment should
include: Internet and email, copy and fax machines, postage meter and telephone.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be over the age of 21.
