Job Description
Reports To: School Director
Terms of Employment: 12 Months
Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent.
A minimum of two years of relevant work experience.
Such alternatives to the above qualification as the Board of Directors may find appropriate and acceptable.
Preferred
Qualifications: Two years of supervisory experience.
Ability to drive a school bus.
Purpose: Organizes, administers, and leads a comprehensive program of maintenance and custodial services that provide and maintain in an efficient and economical manner the facilities, grounds, equipment, and furnishings of Brevard Academy-A Challenge Foundation Academy so that all students, staff, and the community are assured of clean, safe, attractive, and healthy places in which to learn and work.

Essential Job Functions:
- Strives to fulfill the mission and vision of Brevard Academy- A Challenge Foundation Academy.
- Maintains compliance with all policies and/or rules governing Brevard Academy-A Challenge Foundation Academy in relation to assigned area of responsibility.
- Develop, implement and monitor an effective facilities and grounds maintenance program, to ensure that the facility and grounds are attractive and safe. Work cooperatively with teachers and staff in the preparations of facilities, grounds and playing fields for special events, athletics and school activities.
- Maintains internal building cleanliness. Scrubs, sweeps, mops, vacuums, waxes and polishes floors; cleans restrooms; washes windows and walls; removes trash and participation in other cleaning/disinfecting actions to help keep the building interior clean and healthful.
- Maintains exterior landscaping and grounds including but not limited to mowing, weed eating, playground maintenance, litter removal and general beautification.
- Conduct regular inspections of all school facilities, grounds, and equipment to ensure that high standards for cleanliness, attractiveness and safety are maintained. Recommend to the School Director any improvements needed.
- Provide and monitor a system of regular building, equipment, and grounds inspections to meet all federal, state and local requirements, including Fire department inspections.
- Supervise the removal of snow and ice so that safe conditions exist and school can be opened in a timely manner.
- Provide and maintain an efficient and effective waste disposal system with provisions for recycling of all waste permitted by local and State regulations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor an energy conservation program, making recommendations for efficiency and reduction of costs of operating the facilities.
- Maintains an inventory control system and submits purchase orders for supplies, parts, and equipment.
- Assists in the development of the Building and Grounds budget with School Director.
- Serves on the Facilities Committee.
- Notify and assist the School Director and/or Board of Directors and appropriate emergency personnel of any emergency, and potentially dangerous or unusual situations.
Additional Job Functions:
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings and after-school activities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provision of the Board of Directors’ policy on evaluation of non-certified personnel.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
