Description
Under general supervision, generates revenue for the City of Spartanburg by enforcing the Business License Ordinance as indicated in the City Code Book. Reports to the Business License Enforcement Supervisor.
Examples of Duties
- Patrolling the City looking for businesses who are operating without a current city business license.
- Following up on referrals from internal departments.
- Daily, the BLCEO should document the businesses and individuals they have made contact with during their work shift. The BLCEO shall submit weekly reports of the businesses and individuals with whom they had contact in carrying out their duties.
- All courtesy and municipal summons copies should be submitted to the designated office area at least weekly by the BLCEO’s.
- It is the Business License Code Enforcement Officers responsibility to ensure all cases have all required documentation. This is done prior to the case being issued a municipal summons.
- BLCEO shall be responsible for the collection of these fees.
- Performs related work as required.
Typical Qualifications
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Must have good communication skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- This position requires a high level of organization and follow through.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Requires an Associate degree in accounting, business or related field, and two years’ experience in a customer service environment, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid S.C. driver’s license is required. Candidate will be required to obtain a BLCEO certification by MASC within 3 years of hire.
