Compensation: $60,000 - $65,000 annually, based on experience

Position Summary
Steamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports (STARS), a nonprofit organization with the mission to empower and enrich lives through adaptive recreational activities, is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to serve as our Camps Manager.
The Camps Manager will be responsible for recruiting, planning, organizing, and facilitating scheduled STARS camps and private groups throughout the year and will oversee a wide variety of activities that camp participants take part in and ensure that all logistical details are coordinated. This position will report to the Program Director and work closely with the Operations Director, Program Manager and Executive Director to ensure a quality experience is had by all camp and custom group attendees, volunteers and participants.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and host scheduled overnight camps and custom groups and assist Program team in the development of innovative and creative adaptive sports and activities for each camp.
- Coordinate staff, intern and volunteer work schedules with Program team based on activities and lessons being offered by STARS.
- Welcome camp and group participants to STARS Ranch and provide orientation at start of each camp week.
- Facilitate the logistical needs of each camp or custom group to include meals, transportation, lodging and auxiliary activities.
- Market and outreach to new and existing organizations to recruit and secure future camps and groups.
- Drive participants to and from camp activities in a 14-passenger vehicle.
- Share on-call duties for overnight camps staying at STARS Ranch.
- Maintain consistent and professional communications with group leaders and participants and ensure comprehensive documentation/records for all camps and hosted groups.
- Responsible for being State Food Safety certified food manager – managing kitchen cleanliness and up to code.
- Collaborate with Executive Director on grant funded camp submissions, management, and reporting.
- Work Closely with Operations Director on certain projects and management of STARS facilities.
- Manage supplier/vendor invoicing, billing, and payment for camp activities.
- Assist in managing issues/concerns of participants and staff pertaining to camps, groups and STARS Ranch.
- Create a nurturing, positive and professional environment while promoting program policies and procedures among participants, their families, staff, volunteers, and community.
- Instruct individual or group program lessons using appropriate teaching progressions and exercises as needed.
- Assist in daily program activities – both local and overnight groups – when and where needed.
- Participate in all STARS fundraising activities and special events as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Necessary Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience in group/camp planning and coordination preferred
- Previous experience working with people with disabilities preferred
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills; proficient at speaking, reading and writing English
- Ability to communicate effectively with volunteers, participants, donors, community members, and coworkers
- Previous experience developing and managing program budgets and monitoring expenses
- Can work effectively and efficiently under pressure to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated history of responsibility, dependability, and maturity
- Understanding of organizational risk management standards
- Ability to be flexible, creative and adaptable to a variety of situations
- Proficient in the application of changing technology, email, Google Docs, and Microsoft Office applications • Successful completion of a background check
- Possess a valid driver’s license and meet criteria to drive company vehicles
- Must be able to successfully manage multiple, high priority tasks in a fast-paced environment

Education and Experience:
- 2-3 years of proven and effective management experience required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Therapeutic Recreation or adaptive sports program
- Experience in creating and organizing schedules
- Proven ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats
- High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Current CPR and First Aid is preferred
- Proficient in full suite of Microsoft tools (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work outside at high altitude in varying conditions, including uneven terrain, unpredictable weather, and situations
- Must be physically able to assist guests, students, or clients with adaptive equipment
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. with assistance.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced, highly interactive office environment with moderate to high noise levels.
- Some evenings, overnights and weekends required.
