Other Conditions: Position is a temporary casual hire position and offers no benefits, hours not to exceed 40 hours per week. 89 day appointment. All positions require successful completion of a background check.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Makai Campus Coordinator, the position will assist with the day to day operations and maintenance and for various Lower Campus facilities in the best interest of the University of Hawai‘i, State of Hawai‘i, staff, tenants, patrons, employees, and student-athletes.
- Assists with overseeing the daily maintenance, cleaning, up keep and disposal of trash of the various Lower Campus facilities, including but not limited to the locker rooms, bathrooms, offices, landscaping, courts, and surrounding areas.
- Assists with set-up, coordinating, and managing UH athletic events and various events on and off campus as assigned to include but not limited to technical requirements, emergencies, crowd control, and tenant and patron conduct.
- Assists with ensuring UH and non-University events are properly staffed, assigned, and managed in the best interest of the University of Hawai‘i, State of Hawai‘i, staff, tenants, patrons, employees, and student-athletes.
- Assists with overseeing that all safety policies and procedures are followed, in place, and functional prior to each event.
- Assists with events management serving as liaison with visiting teams, game officials, vendors, departmental staff and other University departments as required.
- Responsible for performing the duties of a Campus Security Authority as defined by University policy and federal law with regards to the Clery Act.
- Maintains confidentiality to include but not limited to information, files and records that the incumbent may obtain or possess, in accordance with federal and state laws and University of Hawai‘i policies.
- Maintains collaborative working relationships with administrators and coaches in the department, other college offices and appropriate relationships with members of the media, donors, and other individuals interested in the Athletics Department.
- Knows, recognizes, and complies with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the University of Hawai‘i and its employees, and the rules of the National Collegiate Athletics Association and affiliated conferences as now constituted or as may be amended in the future. Immediately advises the Director Athletics or designee if there are reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees, students or others, have occurred or will occur.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited four year college or University
- Some experience with athletic facilities/games management
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
- Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet goals in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays as required.
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Valid First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or within 30 days of hire.
- Or equivalent combination of education/and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
