Position Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and certified Crane Operator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe operation of cranes and other heavy equipment used in the construction and industrial maintenance projects. As a Certified Crane Operator at Total-Western, you will ensure that all lifting operations are carried out efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting the successful execution of projects and the continued satisfaction of our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Crane Operation: Safely operate a variety of cranes, including mobile, tower, and overhead cranes, to lift, move, and place materials and equipment as per project requirements.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations, ensuring that all lifting operations are conducted in a safe and controlled manner.
Pre-Operational Inspections: Conduct thorough pre-operational inspections of cranes and related equipment, identifying any defects or maintenance needs before use.
Communication and Coordination: Collaborate with ground crew, riggers, and other team members to coordinate lifting operations and ensure smooth execution.
Load Assessment: Assess the weight and balance of loads, ensuring that cranes are capable of lifting safely within their rated capacities.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of equipment inspections, certifications, and lifting operations, ensuring compliance with legal and company requirements.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Identify minor mechanical issues with equipment and perform basic troubleshooting to keep operations running smoothly.
Required Qualifications:
Certification: Valid Crane Operator certification (NCCCO or equivalent) is required.
Experience: At least 3 years of experience operating cranes in industrial, construction, or maintenance environments.
Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of crane operations, load charts, safety protocols, and rigging techniques.
Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with other team members and supervisors.
Safety Awareness: Extensive knowledge of workplace safety regulations, including OSHA guidelines and crane operation standards.
Physical Fitness: Ability to work in physically demanding conditions and in all weather environments, with the ability to lift and carry heavy items.
Preferred Experience:
Experience with specialized cranes (e.g., crawler, tower, or gantry cranes).
Familiarity with cranes used in specific industries such as oil and gas, aerospace, or petrochemical.
Knowledge of computerized crane operation systems or crane management software.
Work Environment:
This position is primarily field-based, requiring work on construction sites, industrial plants, and other client locations. The role involves operating cranes in various weather conditions and on uneven terrain. Travel to different job sites may be required.
Reporting Structure:
The Certified Crane Operator will report directly to the Crane Supervisor or Project Manager and will collaborate with other crane operators, riggers, engineers, and construction teams to ensure efficient and safe crane operations.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range: $28 - $30 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
