The Role: Certified Orthotist
The Certified Orthotist plays a vital role in evaluating patients, designing and fitting custom orthotic and prosthetic devices to meet individual medical needs. This position involves direct patient care, collaboration with healthcare providers, and hands-on fabrication to deliver effective, personalized treatment solutions.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's Degree, Masters Degree, or Masters Certificate in Orthotics and certification by the American Board for Certification (ABC) as an Orthotist or Certification in Orthotics from the Board of Certification (BOC)
Excellent communicator (verbal, written, and interpersonal)
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
Passion for customer service—you love helping people
Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
What You’ll Be Doing
Evaluate patients’ orthotic or prosthetic needs through clinical assessment and consultation
Fabricate, measure, cast, and fit orthotic/prosthetic devices based on physician prescriptionsEducate patients on how to wear, care for, and manage their devices
Determine the most appropriate manufacturer or in-house fabrication materials for each custom solution
Maintain accurate documentation of patient history, fittings, and treatments
Stay current with product knowledge and clinical skills via seminars and ongoing education
Requisition necessary supplies and manage department inventory (mins/maxs, cycle counts)
Assist with marketing efforts to support department growth
Communicate effectively with customers, physicians, referral sources, and staff
Travel as needed for home visits or off-site fittings
