We are seeking a Vocational Evaluator to join our growing Vocational Consulting Firm. The Evaluator will assess an individual’s employability and earning capacity within a legal context.
Required Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in vocational rehabilitation, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
- Must have a current and valid Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) certification or be able to obtain within six months of hire.
Preferred Background and Qualifications:
- Experience providing vocational evaluations in a legal context, but will train the right candidate.
- If you are not a Certified Vocational Evaluation Specialist, it will be expected that you pursue this certification with our support.
Description:
Our Vocational Evaluator will apply principles of vocational rehabilitation, labor market analysis, and vocational assessment to determine an individual's ability to work, retrain, or earn income following an injury, disability, or significant life change. They will consider medical records, educational and work history, transferable skills, labor market data, administer and analyze vocational assessment tools, form expert opinions, and write rehabilitation plans to restore the individual to employment. There will be expectations of providing expert testimony in court.
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive vocational assessments and interviews
- Analyze medical and psychological documentation
- Determine residual functional capacity and transferable skills
- Evaluate labor market conditions and job availability
- Calculate earning capacity and vocational loss
- Write rehabilitation plans
- Prepare clear, defensible written reports for legal proceedings
- Provide expert witness testimony in depositions and court
- Our administrative team handles all scheduling and invoicing
Work Settings:
- Must be able to conduct evaluations in both Norman, OK and Tulsa, OK, along with the ability to travel within the state on an as needed basis as well.
- Evaluations are conducted in our company office (or if traveling, at a public location) with all other work including report writing, research, etc. completed remotely.
- Depositions are scheduled to occur either at the retaining attorney's firm or the court reporters office.
Pay:
The hourly pay rate is based on experience. Pay is on billable hours for work completed. This can be a cyclical industry where referrals are higher at various times than others. The position has averaged about 25 hours per week for the last two years, without attempts for growth but there is a lot of growth potential. Based on the average billing, starting annual pay is anticipated to be in the range of $50,000.
