Certified Substitute Teacher (2025-2026 school year)
Substitute teachers are those who hold a bachelor degree (or higher) in education. This position requires Nebraska Teaching or State Substitute certificate.
Full Day Pay Rate: $185.53*
Half Day Pay Rate: $92.76*
- These are the pay rates for 2024-25. Rates for 2025-26 have not been finalized.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Employees retiring or changing from a benefits eligible position to a substitute only position are subject to NPERS and PPACA reemployment rules and will need to wait 90 or 180 days.
To complete the on-line application for Substitute Teacher:
- Include email addresses for a minimum of three professional references
- Upload a copy of your current degree and/or coursework transcripts*
- Upload a copy your NDE Teaching Certificate*
- Complete the Gallup Teacher Insight Survey 2.0
- Applicants that are hired will be required to provide official transcripts of degrees/coursework and a valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate to Human Resources prior to starting to work.
Applicants who do NOT hold a degree in education, should apply for the Certified, Local Substitute Teacher, 2025-2026 application.
