Part-Time Chaplain (Spiritual Care & Wellness)
Hours: Day-time hours of 8:00am-4:30pm
*The Chaplain position may require flexibility in scheduling to include extended hours, weekends and holidays, as well as remaining on-call to respond to emergencies.
Work is performed onsite due to the personal interaction needed to perform essential functions of the job.*
Wage Range : $25-35 per hour, we honor years of relevant work experience
Job description:
As a Chaplain at Samaritan Bethany, you will:
- Lead the organization in 2 church services a week
- Provides opportunities for spiritual growth through worship, the sacraments, special religious services,
- Bible study, and discussion groups.
- Is available to residents and their families for pastoral care and counseling.
- Provides opportunities for memorial or funeral services for residents who have passed.
- Respects, encourages, and assists with personal contacts to the person’s home congregation.
- Promotes a spirit of cooperation, care and support with other staff, visitors, volunteers, and clergy.
- Provides, when requested, a pastoral perspective regarding ethical, moral, or personal issues.
- Encourages and assists in congregational involvement in appropriate areas.
- Provides effective training, support and leadership to staff and volunteers.
- Assists in educating and training staff in how to recognize the spiritual concerns of the persons they care for and how to respond appropriately. Encourages staff to recognize they have a responsibility for the creation and maintenance of an atmosphere that is conducive to spiritual well-being.
- Supports and participates in the educational programs of the organization.
- Actively seeks out opportunities to be involved in the community, and acts as an ambassador for spiritual care and philanthropy. This includes developing strong relationships with outside clergy.
Requirements:
- Ordained or endorsed for services as a Chaplain or Clergy by appropriate church body (UCC or ELCA).
- A Master of Divinity or its equivalent from an accredited seminary or school of theology.
- Minimum of three years of parish and/or chaplaincy experience.
- Two to four units accredited Clinical Pastoral Education and certification is preferred.
- Knowledge of the practice of spiritual care in a healthcare setting.
