RN – Charge Nurse, Operating Room (Relief)

We are seeking a highly skilled Charge RN – Operating Room to oversee and support surgical nursing operations in a dynamic and fast-paced hospital environment. This position requires exceptional leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining clinical excellence in the OR. Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate OR staff and surgical procedures during assigned shifts.
- Assist surgeons during operations while ensuring sterility and compliance with surgical protocols.
- Lead pre-op planning and post-op evaluations.
- Evaluate, delegate, and support team members in delivering quality care.
- Ensure proper inventory management of OR supplies and equipment.
- Utilize clinical decision-making and evidence-based practices to improve outcomes.
- Promote collaboration between all members of the healthcare team.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
- Participate in OR on-call rotation (24-hour call schedule shared among team).
- Ensure a safe, effective, and patient-centered environment.
- Mentor junior nurses and foster continuous learning and professional development.
Schedule:
- Shift: Monday – Friday | 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Call: 24-hour on-call rotation split among OR team members
Qualifications:Required:
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program
- Active RN License in the State of Illinois
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (required)
- 4-5 years of experience in the Operating Room
- Proficiency in spine, ortho, and robotic surgeries
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage OR staff
Preferred:
- Strong knowledge of OR supply/inventory management
- Experience training new OR staff
