The Churn Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring equipment used in the production of butter. This includes accurately mixing and blending ingredients, maintaining proper sanitation of all equipment, and ensuring the efficient operation of the churn and Rothenburg machines. The role supports production goals and the timely delivery of butter for printing and packaging.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow and comply with applicable good manufacturing, safety, and quality assurance practices.
- Verify quality control items such as product types, ingredients, fat contents, and temperature.
- Properly control butter flows and pressures throughout butter supply system.
- C.I.P. all equipment associated with the churn system.
- Maintain proper documentation in all record keeping formats.
- Assembly, Disassembly, and troubleshooting of churn and rothenburg equipment.
- Assist with general cleaning and housekeeping throughout the plant as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Powered industrial vehicle operations which may include forklifts, scissor lifts, and floor scrubbers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
- Working knowledge of, or willingness to learn, churn equipment operations and perform minor troubleshooting
- Understanding of butter production processes and the products manufactured, or ability to quickly acquire this knowledge
- Effective communication skills to support and maintain high standards of safety, quality, and operational efficiency
- Ability to read, understand, and follow standard operating procedures and company guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance
- Capable of meeting daily production requirements and responding to changing production demands
- Proficiency in, or willingness to learn, essential butter-making principles and practices
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Must be able to obtain and retain a butter maker’s license
- Basic computer skills
- Must be able to maintain applicable powered industrial vehicle certifications. (Forklift, Scissor lift, etc.)
