JOB SUMMARY

Provides direct and indirect patient care in the office setting. Provides care that meets the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care; meets the communication needs of patient and family; provides care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations, under the supervision of a registered nurse and/or provider. Maintains regulatory requirements, nursing and office policies, procedures and standards. Communicates with providers and team members about patient's clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a RN and/or provider, evaluates outcomes, consults with other health team members as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment, under the supervision of a RN and/or provider, on all patients as per policy. This includes neonate, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population.
  • Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
  • Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patients served. Able to interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
  • Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and his/her clinical condition.
  • Follows the seven (7) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
  • Medical and surgical asepsis is carried out during treatments and special procedures.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to co-workers, providers and office manager.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assist providers with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills under the direction of a RN and/or provider.
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family.
  • Interacts professionally with patient and family and involves patient and family in patient education.
  • Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; includes family in teaching, as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatment.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by management.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Meets dress code standards for the department; appearance is neat and clean.
  • Actively checks and responds to emails and Qliq throughout the work day.
  • Completes all mandatory education within given timeframe.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.
  • Attends annual review and department in-services as scheduled.
  • Attends at least 75% of staff meetings; reviews all monthly staff meeting minutes.
  • Actively checks and responds to emails.
  • Actively participates in the department’s quality improvement (QI) activities.
  • Complies with all organizational policies, and employee handbook.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission, vision and values of the organization as well as the focus of the department.

JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS:


Education and/or Work Experience Requirements


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current LPN licensure in the State of Washington
  • Current BLS certification
  • This is a safety sensitive position and subject to RCW 49.44.240(3)(g)

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES:


Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, customers, and the general public.


Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
