PSC Diagnostics (PSC Dx) seeks a skilled Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) for a part-time role at our newly established high-complexity laboratory in Folsom, California. Position Highlights
- Schedule: Part-time, 2-3 days/week, Monday-Friday, ~8am-4pm (flexible hours). No evenings, weekends, or call.
- Compensation: Competitive hourly rate, $43.18-$66.92/hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities
- Perform high-complexity clinical laboratory tests (e.g., clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology, molecular diagnostics) in accordance with CLIA and California regulations.
- Process, analyze, and interpret biological specimens (e.g., blood, urine, tissue) to provide accurate data for diagnosis and treatment.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment per manufacturer instructions and lab protocols.
- Conduct quality control studies to ensure test accuracy and verify instrument performance.
- Document results in the laboratory information system (LIS) with strict attention to detail.
- Collaborate with lab director, technical supervisor, and other personnel to maintain compliance with CDPH, CAP, and CLIA standards.
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment or test discrepancies and report issues to supervisors.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens standards, and maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license issued by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). CLS Trainee license holders must obtain full CLS licensure within 120 days of hire.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a related science (e.g., biology, chemistry) with:
- 16 semester (or equivalent quarter) units of chemistry, including clinical chemistry or analytical and biochemistry.
- 18 semester (or equivalent quarter) units of biology, including hematology, immunology, and medical microbiology.
- 3 semester (or equivalent quarter) units of physics (light and electricity).
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in a high-complexity clinical laboratory preferred, or completion of a CDPH-approved CLS training program.
- Certifications: ASCP or equivalent national certification preferred but not required.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in laboratory procedures, including specimen processing, analysis, and quality control.
- Knowledge of laboratory automation and LIS systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with lab staff.
- Familiarity with CLIA, CDPH, CAP, and OSHA regulations for high-complexity testing.
- Physical Demands: Prolonged standing/walking, dexterity, and ability to lift/carry up to 25 lbs.
