Job Summary
The Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight to nursing departments, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and adherence to regulatory and organizational standards. Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the ACNO collaborates with senior leadership, department managers, and frontline staff to enhance clinical outcomes, promote a culture of excellence, and drive nursing initiatives that align with the hospital’s mission and strategic goals. The ACNO plays a key role in workforce development, financial stewardship, and patient experience, fostering innovation and continuous improvement within nursing services.
Duties
- Supervise and manage nursing staff, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that align with healthcare management best practices.
- Monitor patient care activities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and quality assurance protocols.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and improve service delivery.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing training opportunities for nursing staff.
- Manage staffing levels to meet patient needs while optimizing resource allocation.
- Address patient and family concerns promptly, ensuring a compassionate approach to care.
Experience
- Leadership & Strategic Thinking: Proven ability to drive nursing excellence, implement change initiatives, and enhance patient outcomes.
- Financial Acumen: Experience in budget planning, resource allocation, and operational efficiency.
- Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge: Strong understanding of accreditation and regulatory standards affecting nursing practice.
- Communication & Collaboration: Ability to foster interdisciplinary teamwork and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Analytical skills to assess complex issues, develop solutions, and drive continuous improvement.
- Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), data analytics, and hospital management systems.
- Physical Demands - Clerical/Administrative Non-Patient Care:
- Frequent sitting and standing/walking with frequent position change.
- Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level.
- Occasional/intermittent reaching at or above shoulder level.
- Occasional/intermittent bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, twisting, and climbing.
- Occasional/intermittent lifting and carrying objects/equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
- Continuous use of near vision, hearing and verbal communication skills in handling telephone calls, interacting with customers and co-workers and performing job duties.

Pay: $120.00 - $127.83 per hour
