Overview
Founded in the early 1970’s, the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence of the San Fernando Valley [NCADD-SFV] is a non-profit community-based organization dedicated to providing multiple levels of substance-use disorder (SUD) outpatient treatment services to those in need of recovery, as well as education and prevention services to schools and the community regarding the disease of alcoholism and drug dependence/abuse and the negative effects abuse/addiction has on the individual, their family, and their community.
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance and Improvement Specialist to join our team. The QA/QI Specialist is responsible for supporting NCADD-SFV’s commitment to clinical excellence, data driven decision making, and regulatory compliance through collecting key outcome data, systematic chart audits, performance tracking, and quality improvement initiatives. This role ensures that documentation meets all contractual and accreditation standards (DHCS, SAPC, CARF) and that data is used to drive continuous service improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Chart Reviews
- Conduct monthly quantitative chart audits of all new admissions and follow-up audits at 90 days post-admission to assess treatment engagement, timeliness, and documentation accuracy.
- Conduct monthly qualitative chart reviews of at least one client chart per counselor to evaluate clinical appropriateness, alignment with ASAM criteria, CalAIM’s documentation and therapeutic quality.
- Track deficiencies and trends in documentation and communicate findings to QA/QI Supervisor and Clinical Team.
Data Collection & KPI Tracking
- Compile and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including, but not limited to, admission timeliness, engagement rates, discharge outcomes, productivity and incentive benchmarks, initial/discharge survey results, and CalOMs admission/discharge for timeliness and completeness.
- Ensure Health and Safety timelines and requirements of drills and trainings are being adhered to according to the “Injury and Illness Prevention Policy (IIP).”
- Maintain organized records of QA/QI data including and create monthly and quarterly reports for leadership, funders, and QA/QI meetings.
- Support integration of KPI metrics into the Quality Improvement Plan and Progress Tracker.
Quality Improvement & Compliance
- Participate in quarterly QA/QI and Health/Safety Committee meetings, contribute to action planning based on data insights, audit findings, and help prioritize corrective or enhancement efforts.
- Assist with preparation for audits and surveys (SAPC, DHCS, CARF) and coordinate internal readiness activities.
- Support staff education and training on clinical documentation standards, compliance updates, and continuous quality improvement processes.
- Collaborate with the Clinical and QA/QI Supervisors to optimize documentation workflows, improve data accuracy and usability through the EHR systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health, public health, social work, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in quality assurance/clinical compliance in a behavioral health, SUD, or nonprofit healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of CARF, SAPC, DHCS documentation requirements, and ASAM criteria are essential.
- Experience conducting chart reviews and utilizing EHR systems; familiarity with SAGE/PCNX is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret data and trends for actionable insights.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate with clinical and administrative teams.
Working Conditions:
- This position requires working on site, may travel between sites, and the possibility of transitioning to hybrid work from home.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $54,080.00 - $58,240.00 per year
