Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. The UC Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Cincinnati has been an independent academic unit within the College of Medicine since 1984. It is responsible for the medical direction of the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Center for Emergency Care (CEC) and the Emergency Medicine Residency Training Program.


The Department of Emergency Medicine, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is seeking a full-time (100% FTE) Clinical Research Assistant. This individual will work a rotating schedule that includes day, evening, and night shifts, in addition to weekends and holidays.

Essential Functions

  • Identify eligible patients and approach them for informed consent.
  • Enroll subjects as outlined in IRB approval protocols and perform study procedures.
  • Measure and record patient vital signs.
  • Perform ECG/EKGs and blood draws.
  • Process blood and body fluid specimens and prepare for shipping.
  • Work in conjunction with hospital clinical staff and communicate with the treatment teams
  • Provide administrative assistance for Lead Coordinators and Principal Investigators with documentation needs and research data maintenance and reporting.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

High School Diploma or GED.

Additional Qualifications Considered

Two (2) years of general workforce experience.

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
