Staggered Remote Position
- This position requires 3 months of in department training
- After training & competency is obtained, part-time remote work begins
Job duties include the following, other duties may be assigned:
- Clinical Triage Specialist must be able to demonstrate knowledge of growth and development to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Receive and respond to telephone request from patient under the direction of the MD and/or his/her designee. Document the request, contact information, physician response, patient follow up and any other pertinent information in the EMR.
- Review patient data for relevant clinical updates, laboratory, x-ray and other test results.
- Implement and positively reinforces physician/provider orders.
- Receive and respond to telephone calls in response to acute/chronic illnesses. Obtain chief complaint and/or history of present illness. Utilize MD approved guidelines based on patient complaint and make appropriate disposition of patient following Deaconess protocol. Document all data obtained in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Medication list, pharmacy preference, demographics, allergies and any change to medical/surgical history should be reviewed and updated during each patient telephone encounter.
- Confers with the patient and physician regarding scheduling priorities for acute and routine visits and when necessary, directing the patient to a higher level of care.
- Utilizes the EMR to relay scheduling information for all patient referrals, diagnostic services, tests, procedures, acute/follow up appointments as directed by physician.
- In collaboration with the physician, provide the patient and family with appropriate education regarding medications, treatments, tests, procedures, results and dietary recommendations. Per HIPAA Guidelines. Document all information in the EMR.
What You Will Need
- Graduation certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant program or graduation from an accredited nursing program required
- Experience preferred but not required.

Current certification/license from one of the below:

- National Certified Medical Assistant- National Center for Competency Testing
- Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant- National Association for Health Professionals
- Registered Medical Assistant- American Allied Health
- Certified Medical Assistant Clinical- American Medical Certification Association
- Active LPN license in state of employment
- Active RN license in state of employment
- NOTE: The Access Center covers both Indiana and Kentucky. If you have an RN or LPN license, you must have licensure for both states. Compound Licensure is acceptable. If your home is located in Illinois you will be required to have IL Licensure as well as Indiana and Kentucky Licensure.
