Job Summary:
La Rabida is currently recruiting for a full-time Clinical Screener I to join our Behavioral Health Department in Chicago, IL.
Serves as Integrated Assessment Clinical Screener I. Utilizes assessment instruments designed for this program to establish measures of child/client functioning and to determine types of community and social supports required; administers clinical interviews for the IA program to clients (children), birth parents, and other adults in the child’s life; creates IA template reports and provides other services necessary to assess the child and implement a care plan.
Essential Clinical Screener I Functions:
- Reviews all relevant case documentation—such as Juvenile Court, DCFS, medical, school, and mental health records—and integrates findings into the Integrated Assessment (IA) report.
- Conducts in-home IA interviews with children, caregivers, birth parents, and other involved adults to determine the services and supports needed to improve care and achieve permanency goals.
- Administers age-appropriate developmental and behavioral screening tools, makes referrals based on results and clinical judgment, and ensures timely submission to DCFS per contract requirements.
- Writes comprehensive IA reports summarizing historical, clinical, and legal information; submits reports for supervision and participates in weekly reviews with the Clinical Lead.
- Collaborates with Permanency Workers and Supervisors to develop service plans, attempts to attend follow-up family meetings for 30 days, and maintains communication throughout the process.
- Completes and submits required assessments and closed case files on time, participates in quality assurance and research activities, and engages in regular case consultations and training sessions.
What we need from you:
- Education: Ph.D./Psy.D., LCSW or LCPC. Psychologists and social workers must be licensed in Illinois. Psychologists must have completed an APA-accredited internship in clinical child or pediatric psychology
- Related Work Experience: Three years of post-graduate experience with the population of children served by this program. Must have child welfare experience

Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Must have excellent interpersonal skills to interact with all personnel involved in this program – children, parents, foster parents, relatives of children, DCFS staff, community agency staff, physicians, peers, government agencies, school personnel, etc. Must have access to an automobile and maintain adequate auto insurance. Also requires the use of a personal cell phone.
Employees must maintain automobile insurance. La Rabida strongly recommends that the employee maintain the following liability limits: Automobile liability/$100,000 per person per accident; bodily injury/$300,000 aggregate per accident; property damage/$50,000 per accident; and automobile medical payments/$1,000 per person. - CPR required: Only certifications issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross will be accepted.

Compensation Information:
Pay Range: $64,000 - $73,000
