The Hill Group in the Infectious Disease Sciences Program at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is seeking a full-time Clinical Trial Assistant I/II (Program Assistant I/II) to provide support for the faculty member’s clinical research projects. This position offers exposure to faculty and staff across a broad range of careers in clinical research and is an excellent opportunity for anyone considering a future in clinical research or medicine. Responsibilities
This position reports directly to the Research Project Manager. The position works with some independence and is expected to use judgment in carrying out duties. The incumbent will perform functions requiring knowledge and skills specific to the laboratory and to clinical research.
Clinical Research Responsibilities
- Work directly with the Research Project Manager in the initiation of clinical research studies
- Collaboratively work with and assist the Clinical Research Coordinator on respective projects assigned
- Develop and maintain tools for study implementation including study participant questionnaires, educational materials, consent forms, SOPs or other documents as required.
- Accurately enter data into study databases, including questionnaire data, study forms, and specimens
- Contact patients via phone and/or email for study related procedures
- Act as a liaison between regulatory, budget, and administrative staff to facilitate studies
- Assemble sampling kits and distribute to study sites and/or patients
- Ship and maintain the tracking of specimens
- Transport specimens, if necessary, utilizing universal precautions
- Practice infection control and isolation techniques as necessary
- Participate and prepare data for weekly research meetings
- Maintain HIPAA, Good Clinical Practice and other clinical research training requirements.
- Will require weekends and holiday coverage for clinical studies.
Laboratory Responsibilities
- Process specimens for research use according to a wide variety of protocols
- Maintain study and specimen tracking and inventory records
- Review and improve inventory of existing biospecimen repository collections
- Locate and retrieve specimens in response to investigator requests
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Clinical Trial Assistant I
- High school graduation or GED.
- Minimum of one year experience in program specialty or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal skills required.
- Attention to detail, a strong sense of organization and ability to multitask and troubleshooting skills are also essential.
- Must be knowledgeable with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, and Access).
- Demonstrate a professional, positive attitude when working with patients.
- Highly motivated and independent.
Clinical Trial Assistant II:
In addition to the minimum qualifications of Clinical Trial Assistant I
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
For both Clinical Trial Assistant I/II
- BA/BS degree, preferably in the biological sciences.
- Previous experience working with EPIC system.
- Previous experience with REDCap and the willingness to learn new software programs as necessary.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and medications.
Clinical Trial Assistant I: The hourly pay range for this position is from $22.87 to $32.56 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
Clinical Trial Assistant II: The hourly pay range for this position is from $25.22 to $35.90 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
